Coon Creek, Montaña de Oro State Park Field Trip
By mid-June, the wildflowers in most areas have faded or have gone to seed. However, Coon Creek’s coastal, shaded riparian habitat still harbors an abundance of flowers at that time.
This is a 5 mile (8 km) roundtrip walk and taking from 3 to 4 hours.
Meet at the trailhead, located at the very end of the access road in Montaña de Oro State Park.
Wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, dress in layers; bring water and a snack.
No dogs, please.
Ticks, poison oak, and stinging nettles will be present. For more information, please contact Al Normandin (hike leader) at (805) 534-0462, alnormandin2002@yahoo.com, or Bill
