The mission of the California Native Plant Society is to increase understanding and appreciation of California’s native plants and to conserve them and their natural habitats through education, science, advocacy, horticulture and land stewardship.

The San Luis Obispo Chapter of the California Native Plant Society covers San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara Counties. It offers activities focusing on the many aspects of native plants, from gardening and horticulture to hiking, plant identification, plant sales, conservation, and rare plants and rare natural communities. The Chapter was founded in 1967.
