2026 Membership Meetings

Summer Break – no membership meetings in the months of July through September.

Here are the 2026 membership meeting dates for the San Luis Obispo Chapter of the California Native Plant Society. Generally, these meetings occur on the first Thursday of the month with a break in the summer, however, you will see some adjustments below. Speakers for each membership meeting will be announced closer to the meeting date here, in the newsletter, and on our social media.

• January – no membership meeting.
• February 12 – Installation of the new Chapter Board and report on the CNPS State conference. Check back for location of this February meeting. There will probably be a optional plant ID workshop before this meeting.
• March 5 – at Atascadero Library. Plant ID workshop before meeting.
• April – no membership meeting is held, instead we have our annual Malcom McLeod Field Trip.
• May 7 Plant ID workshop before meeting.
• June 4 – Presentations by scholarship students. Plant ID workshop before meeting.
• July to September – no membership meetings.
• October 1 – Native seed exchange.
• November 5
• December 3 – election of next year’s Chapter Board; members are invited to bring a holiday dessert to share.

The schedule for the membership meetings is usually 7:00-7:30 pm for social mixing and light refreshments, and 7:30-8:30 pm for a short business meeting and a speaker. The membership meetings are usually held at the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building although at least one meeting a year is held in north SLO County (usually March and at the Atascadero Library), and one meeting may be scheduled in our south area in the future. Sometimes an optional workshop is held before the membership meeting and it usually starts at either 5:30 pm.

Chapter Board meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of odd months, 6-8:30 pm. These are usually held as online video meetings and members are invited to attend in addition to Board members. If you are filling in your new calendar, other 2026 annual events are below. Some dates will be determined closer to those months. We are frequently adding field trips and workshops, so check back for those details throughout the year.

• February 4-7, 2026 – State CNPS Conference, Riverside.
• March 7, 14, 21 – annual hike(s) to Coreopsis Hill.
• April – Malcom McLeod Annual Field Trip.
• April 18 – spring plant sale.
• April 24 & 25 – Cambria Wildflower Show.
• April 2 – Plant Keying Workshop.
• May – Sudden Oak Death Blitz with CAL FIRE.
• September 12 – Membership banquet, Rancho El Chorro.
• November 7 – First Saturday in November 10am – 2pm, annual fall plant sale.
