Family Sketch Hike at Three Bridges Preserve

Winter is a great time to look and draw plants at Three Bridges Oak Preserve in Atascadero. The leaves are gone and one can easily see the structure of the plants, especially the oaks.This year is extra interesting because it seems like spring already.  Plants are leafing out and some are blooming. This is an easy loop trail where we’ll stop and draw and name a few plants and their leaves, acorns, bark and anything else we find. This sketching hike is aimed at 5-10 year olds, but all are welcome. Art materials are provided and you can take your sketchbook home.

Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, and dress in layers for changing weather. A plant list for Three Bridges Oak Preserve can be found on our website here. There are no bathroom facilities along the hike route. Rain or threat of rain cancel or postpone this trip. Check the Three Bridges Oak Preserve website during the rainy season to make sure the trail is not closed due to high water.
