Irish Hills Hike

Join us on a loop hike through the Irish Hills Natural Reserve in San Luis Obispo on a series of trails covering the unique, serpentine geology and plant communities of the area. This moderate rockier hike is 3 to 4 miles with an 1000-foot elevation gain, lasting 3.5 hours. Led by Erin Lyn Virnig, a Cal Poly Biological Sciences student specializing in botany, we will look for rare wildflowers along Froom Creek, Ocean View, and Old Prospector trails.

Meet in the parking lot behind Home Depot and adjacent to the Costco gas station off Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo (35.25052°N, 120.69119°W).

Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, and dress in layers for changing weather. There are no bathroom facilities along the hike route. Rain or threat of rain cancel or postpone this trip.
