Come Celebrate Latino Conservation Week With Us – CNPS-SLO Chapter in partnership with Latino Outdoors Central Coast invite you to our upcoming September 21 joint event at Nipomo Community Park, Eucalyptus Group Area  (enter park on Orchard Rd. from Tefft St.) in cooperation with other environmental organizations. Meet representatives of local environmental organizations. Visit our CNPS-SLO Booth. Bring your whole family – fun activities for children.

Celebración de la Semana de la Conservación Latina, Sábado, 21 de septiembre, 1:00-4:00 pm, Parque comunitario de Nipomo

Representantes de organizaciones ambientales locales estarán presentes para que usted pueda aprender sobre los esfuerzos de conservación mientras participa en actividades divertidas y atractivas. ¡Traiga a toda la familia! ¡Nuevo! Caminatas guiadas bilingües por la naturaleza dirigidas por CA Native Plant Society a las 1:30 y 3:00 pm. Las organizaciones participantes que se unen a Latino Outdoors incluyen: Latino Outdoors Central Coast, Morro Coast Audubon Society, Learning Among the Oaks/Land Conservancy of SLO County, Central Coast State Parks Association, Camp KEEP, CA Native Plant Society, Dunes Center, Creek Lands Conservation, and the Xerces Society.

Paseo Bilingüe para Principiantes en Observación de Aves, Sábado, 21 de septiembre, 9:00-11:00 am, Lago Oso Flaco – Únase a los líderes bilingües de Latino Outdoors Central Coast y Morro Coast Audubon Society para una caminata matutina informal para aprender sobre las aves y el Área Natural del Lago Oso Flaco. El Lago Oso Flaco es parte del Complejo de Dunas Guadalupe Nipomo. El sendero comienza con una caminata a través de un corredor ribereño bordeado de sauces, gira hacia un camino de puente que cruza el lago, hacia las dunas de arena costeras y hacia la orilla y la playa. Aprenda a identificar aves cantoras y especies de humedales. Caminata fácil y accesible, ida y vuelta de dos millas como máximo. Los líderes llevarán telescopios de observación y guías de campo. Se proporcionarán binoculares y todas las edades son bienvenidas. Use calzado cómodo para caminar, gorra y traiga una botella de agua. Afternoon Bilingual Plant Walks and Celebration at Nipomo Community Park, Eucalyptus Group Area  (enter park on Orchard Rd. from Tefft St.) – Take a bilingual plant walk through maritime chaparral and oak woodland with CNPS-SLO. Walks start at 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM. We will learn about the native plants and animals that live in the chapparal and oak woodland in Nipomo. We will see the ancient oak forest, the landscape where ancestors of native peoples lived and thrived for thousands of years. So much of these ancestral lands are now gone, converted into houses, roads, and shopping areas. We will learn how to advocate for what is still intact. This walk is 1.0 mile long with a small elevation gain of 200 ft., and a duration of 45 minutes. Bring adequate water, a hat, and sturdy shoes. The trails are mostly soft sand.
