Shandon Library and Las Pilitas Nursery

Start the day at 10am with a one-hour bilingual presentation at the Shandon Library on gardening with California native plants well suited to growing in Shandon and other eastern portions of San Luis Obispo County. Bill Waycott and Zach Tanner will discuss how to select, grow, and use these native plants in your garden. They will also talk about some of the wonderful native plants local to the area. This event is free and open to all. Spanish translation will be provided for any native Spanish speakers.

Uno de los representantes de la Sociedad de Plantas Nativas de California hablará sobre el tema en español y estará disponible para contestar sus preguntas y recomendarles cuales plantas nativas están adaptas a su región.
From Shandon, we will drive the back roads of eastern SLO County to Las Pilitas Nursery for a tour of the facility. Nursery owner Penny Nyunt will show us many of the plants discussed during the presentation and talk more about the wide variety of California natives that Las Pilitas grows. Las Pilitas has long been a leader and steward in the California native plant movement and we are lucky to have them within our County.
For participants coming from the coastal areas, meet at the Santa Margarita Park and Ride (35.383257, -120.628256) at 9:00 am to regroup into carpools. The Shandon Library is located at 195 North 2nd St., Shandon, CA (35.656633, -120.376080). The Las Pilitas Nursery is located at 3232 Las Pilitas Rd., Santa Margarita, CA (35.371625, -120.450761).
