Diplacus aurantiacus, Sticky Monkey flower is the coastal form of Mimulus aurantiacus, a perennial with 1″ orange flowers that likes partial shade if planted in the interior sun if it is along the coast. Sticky Monkey flower is normally 3-4 feet tall and cold tolerant to about 12-15 degrees F in the ground with no damage. They froze to the ground at 0-5 degrees F., but came right back. Monkeyflower is a HUMMINGBIRD PLANT and has been deer proof in all areas to date. Monkeyflower goes dormant in summer if you have a hot dry climate. It will grow in any soil including serpentine as long as it has drainage and is not overwatered.
