About the Author
Dr. David Keil is the Curator of Vascular Plants & Emeritus Professor of the Robert F. Hoover Herbarium at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. He joined the Cal Poly botany faculty in 1976 and immediately honed in on the native flora. Through the years, he has spent extensive time in field work and built an extensive collection. His research has resulted in the authoring of numerous species descriptions. Dr. Keil also served as a primary editor and author for the Jepson Manual. Dr. Keil has now taken Hoover’s earlier, long-renowned flora to the next level. He has created an updated second edition of Vascular Plants of San Luis Obispo County, California, based on a combined 70 years of investigating the plants from their Cal Poly home base.
