Sudden Oak Death Blitz: If you are interested in tracking the health of oaks and California bays in SLO County, join the SOD Blitz May 24-27, 2024. No experience necessary, we provide short online training, advice as needed, even recommended places to survey. If you enjoyed Dr. Chipping’s presentation last month on the Botanic Riches of Santa Rita Creek, that area and several other lovely creeks in north county are target locations for these surveys. By joining this longstanding survey, you help track changes in our local forests and it gives you a chance to explore natural SLO County areas at a beautiful time of year. You never know what amazing things you might incidentally see such as this timema insect which was observed on a pitcher sage in Three Bridges Oak Preserve last year during the SOD Blitz.
